My Grandmother passed away on Sunday, October 26th. She was 91 years old! She lived at home until last December. I was lucky enough to spend a couple of days visiting with her the week before she died. My Grandmother and Grandad raised my brother and I, so she was more like my mother than Grandmother. She was an excellent seamstress and who I learned a lot of my sewing skills from. I know she had me rip out many stitches!!! I am so very sad to have lost her but know that she is no longer in pain and now gets to see the Lord!!

New camera strap and zip pouch set
I am usually a procrastinator, yes almost always, but I actually finished up my sweet SIL's birthday present before her birthday!! But we didn't get to get together to celebrate til today.

I made her a custom camera strap, it's made with fabric that is from Basic Grey Urban Couture line. They make the fabulous scrapbook papers that we are always drooling over!!!
And I also made her a zip pouch and matching key fob out of this great B&W damask print fabric.
I think she liked her gift!!! I told it couldn't be returned!!! :)

Finally made something for myself!
Well, I finally decided it was time to actually make something for myself! I recently started a Bible study at my church. We are doing the Beth Moore "Stepping Up". It is a great one so far!
So I thought it would be good for me to have a bag that I could use just for keeping my Bible study materials in.
I found this beautiful Amy Butler and Heather Bailey fabric at a local shop the other day and a friend that was with me pointed out the cross fabric! Perfect for this project!
I really liked the way this one turned out and am so excited that I actually get to keep and use this one!

I've been working on a few new camera straps in between some other orders.
This first one is a OOAK strap! This was a custom order and there will not be another like this one! I had just these squares of this fabric. It is Amy Butler Midwest Modern line of fabrics.
This second one will be showing up in my shop today! It is done with fabrics from the Urban Chicks "Summer in the City" fabric line from Moda.
Biker Burp Cloths
I made these burp cloths for a friend in my bunco group. I am going to go back and add the babies name now that he is here!

Trying to get back to "normal" after IKE!
I've been just trying to get back to some sort of "normal" since IKE hit. We were so very lucky to not receive too much damage from the hurricane that caused so much devastation. We lost about a dozen shingles off the roof so we have the insurance adjuster coming to inspect that. Our beautiful weeping willow tree was just about shredded on half of it, we still haven't decided if we are going to take it completely out or see if it will come back. And of course like so many others, we lost everything that was in our fridge and deep freeze. We were w/o electricity for 4 1/2 days, again very lucky as some around us are still w/o it!!
I've tried to do a few little sewing projects when I have had just a little bit of time. I had made my friend the camera strap that I posted about earlier and needed to mail that to her so I went ahead and made a dog collar for her dog and a little zip pouch and key fob for her mom(my friend too!!). For the zipper pouch and fob I used fabrics that we had picked out for me to make a purse for her. Her birthday was recently so I thought this was a good gift for her and for her to see how the fabrics looked in person together. I also sent a couple card cases to put her business cards in for her new paper crafting business.

A couple new pretties--for the dog and your camera!!
I have seen camera straps made before and wanted to make some myself but could never find the hardware! I finally found it the other day and ordered some! It was waiting for me when I got home yesterday after my weekend getaway! So today I made this camera strap for myself!(or if my dear friend likes it I am sending it to her!!!) Love all these Amy Butler fabrics. There are ten different fabrics making up this comfy strap!

On Sunday I made a dog collar for our sweet dog Sparkle! This was just a quick one to try it out! And trying to get the dog to sit still for a picture was FUN!!!
Look for both these items to show up in some form or another in my etsy shop soon!

I have been waiting.....
to post pictures of this great bag I custom made for Lisa! I wanted to make sure she was able to see it first before I showed everyone else on here! Lisa contacted me through my blog about possibly making her a custom bag. She is a Wedding Planner in Puerto Rico!!! Her job sounds like so much fun!!! Here's her blog: Puerto Rico Wedding Planner
She told me the things that were important to her and after emailing back and forth for a bit we settled on some design ideas and fabrics. She wanted a tote to carry her laptop, keys, emergency wedding kit, water bottle, cell phone, etc. So she ordered a lg tote, cosmetic bag, & key fob, all monogrammed with her business name. She will look fabulous going to her meetings and weddings. Lisa was so sweet to work with and so patient when there was a delay in getting her bag to her, I included a spcial gift for her, a wallet. Oh and check out the matching pens!!!

Something new and my first GIVEAWAY!!!
I've seen these little card cases/mini pouch and thought they were so cute and functional. You can use them to store your business cards, carry your credit cards and use them to present a gift card to some lucky recipient. I finally made my first one yesterday. And made two more! These are so fun to make! All three of these are made with Sis Boom fabrics by Jennifer Paganelli, such fun, pretty fabrics! I will definitely be making these to put in my etsy shop. I'm also working on coming up with a smaller wallet with card slots and a coin pouch.
And now here is the GIVEAWAY part! Leave me comment and let me know which of these 3 card cases you like the best and what you would use one for. Next Sunday(8/31)at 10pm(CT) I will draw a winner to receive their favorite one!!
